yesterday was the day…

…i gained a brother-in-law.

one boy one girl

it was soooo beautiful and touching. i’ve been waiting a loong time for this to happen. and i almost blubbered when my sis and dad walked down the aisle but managed to keep it to a minimum(chin quivering and eyes tearing). yes. i be the emo one.

standing in front of the church

i was a lil glad when the church service was over because it meant that the opportunities to cry would be stopped.

big thanks to ros, eleta, zhen and jaya for coming for the church wedding=)

the dinner was held at the meritus mandarin. despite already having pre-booked online, the service at the front-desk was sloow and sluggish. it didn’t help that we were already LATE due to the massive traffic jam caused by weekend crowds and the pouring rain.

so paiseh cos my MUA Cherlyn and her friend Lydia(who was there to help because there were 4 of us to do)was already there.

anyway, just to let you guys know that if you ever need a MUA, Cherlyn’s very good. i was already convinced mostly by the pictures she posted up on her blog but having personally have her do my hair and makeup affirms my convictions :)

hair and mu sideview

apologies for only posting up the side view, does not do justice to cherlyn’s work but unfortunately alot of my zilian shots involve me grinning like a chesire cat so uh maybe i’ll post the rest in friendster or something.

am extremely happy and tired.

my brother-in-law(officially at last!) was so funny. at first i wanted to take pictures with him AND my sis. he didnt know, figuring that i must’ve been wanting to take pics only with my beloved sis. i told him “but you’re my real brother in law now!” and he went “oh” and stepped back in.

he’s still addressing my dad as ‘uncle’. but tried to correct himself later on in the night.

“hi! uh….dad!”

well its alright. he’ll spend the rest of his life being my dad’s son-in-law. plenty of time to practice.

me and gingerbreadmen

bangkok trip :)

Monday, November 13th, 2006

i went to bangkok. it was fun. the fun parts were when i started spending money and buying stuff. which made me smile. and smile some more. heh.

 ronald mcdonald says hi

yes even Ronald McDonald is Thai so he greets you in the traditional thai way, hands together with a slight bow.

thai customer service is impeccable. my sis, cousin and i went to this cafe and were floored by the fantastic service. they cleared plates fast, took our orders without complaint and thanked us for everything. to think that the bill came up to $12 total for the 3 of us.

the famous Four Faced Buddha

this is the famous Four Faced Buddha that has devotees from all over the world coming to pay respects to it. well since i’m not a Buddhist i didn’t go in but i thought that taking pictures would be lovely.

Typical BKK traffic

bangkok traffic. i love the hot pink taxis. don’t have a picture of it. their taxi drivers drive like they are race car drivers. really fast but you feel like you’re on some amusement ride.

my stuff

stuff i bought! spent approximately 2800baht. which is er…not alot? the dress was one of my best buys. don’t know where i’m gonna wear it though. hmmm.

great day :)

parachute band

okay here’s a very bad blurry picture of Parachute Band’s pastor handing over the mike to my church’s senior pastor. and in the background is the band itself. yes. bad photo-taking. but there was good worship because we have a Fantastic God. so there :)

after church, went to meet my nursing clique, who have very bad ways of trying to disguise the fact that they want to celebrate my birthday in advance. but the intention was very sweet lahs i love them all! =D

we watched DOA cos it was the only movie at bedok cinema that was at 3pm-ish. i kept laughing at all the wrong moments. but guys will surely love this movie. we just found it so-so.

went to K-Box after that! sang for 4 hours and stuffed ourselves with food for 3. yes. buffet style. couldn’t resist the food.

)

wondering why the group pictures look so awkward? i used timer and had to run like crazy to get back with the rest to pose :)

wedding dinner preview

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

went to Meritus Mandarin hotel for my sis’s wedding dinner tasting session. basically it was a 9-course meal served in itty-bitty portions for us(mainly my sis and bro-in-law) to try out and critique. i didn’t care. i was just there for the free food :)

wedding food

1st row (L-R) Suckling Pig, Shark’s Fin, Chicken

2nd row(L-R)Scallops, Garoupa, Abalone

3rd row(L-R)Duck, Lotus Leaf Rice, Mashed Taro

i was fine with all the food. except for the dessert. and i had two bowls of shark’s fin thanks to my sis -_-” so filling!

me me me!

and this is what i did to pass time. my younger sis took the pictures.

mindless post.

no particular direction. just gonna blog randomly. RAN DOM LY.

do you know that singaporeans often mispronounce two words?

they are ‘watermelon’(woh-ter-meh-lerm) and ‘melbourne’(mell-berm). its almost as though we have a country full of people who don’t like to open their mouths very much(quite the contrary, actually).

daniel v

this is daniel vosovic from Project Runway 2(where chloe dao was crowned winner!). isn’t he sooo pretty??? my friends get really annoyed everytime i see pretty boys and force them to look and agree with me. but sometimes also quite demoralising to have a boy prettier than you lah. lol.

D

this is me posing with the male patients’ toilet urinal. yes i was bored enough. i cropped this picture. it also features my junior chundi(i pronouce her name as chan-dee just for fun but she acherly responds. so obedient hor, chandee? ;)) but the photo already quite blur so no point putting(is there such a word?) her side here too. a male patient sauntered in after this shot and we hurriedly dashed out of the loo.

don’t really fancy my uniform. the material is a heat conductor i tell you. i sweat like crazy when the sun is up. which is disgusting. but not as disgusting as when one toilet got choked with faecal matter and toilet water(and progressively increased in volume with every flush!)

the most fascinating wound i’ve seen to date is a deep forearm laceration. an foreign worker(speaking of foreign…why do we call angmohs working here ‘expatriates’ and not ‘foreign workers’ as well? same same what!) got his arm sliced by a saw so deep i could see the tendons and muscles. i was very excited initially and even more so after i saw the wound.  to think that the house officer was reluctant to let me see it. i am not as squeamish as most girls okay!

recently my eyesight has been wonky. no, not the serious kind. its when i don’t pay attention to words and i mistake them for medical terms. like the word ‘prostrate’. i saw it as ‘prostate‘. and i saw the word ‘auxillary‘ as ‘axillar‘. sigh.

faith on a vehicle.

jesus loves you

took the above picture en route to sengkang. i know its not exactly the most shocking thing ever, but don’t you think its pretty ? ;)

HADY MIRZA - SI2

yep, that's your new singapore idol. Hady Mirza, 26 years old. i knew he was gonna win, but not by a whopping 40% =D . my maid was disappointed. she voted 5 times for jonathan leong(whom by the way grated on my nerves by acting like he already won).

he's versatile and his voice is good. of course its no secret that i was rooting for him ever since jay 'uncle' lim got voted out(wasn't thinking that jay was gonna win anyway. he just didnt have the stage presence and ooomph despite having a great voice).

oh, and did i mention that my 2 sisters were rooting for jonathan too? HAH! screw racist crap or biased viewpoints. i support whoever had the most talent and jonathan's monotonous voice swung me over to supporting hady(only voted once for him and that was enough).

was quite surprised that an estimated 9000 people showed up. didn't think SI2 would be able to pull in such a sizeable crowd(minus the fans and family).

oh, forget about the whole idea of SI. i don't think there's gonna be another season and frankly i'm not disappointed at all, what with the recent onslaught of talent comps.

speaking of talent comps, here's a blurry picture of juz-b performing at the acappella concert i blogged about awhile back.

Animal Abusers SUCK!

Friday, September 8th, 2006

[note : some parts of the blog entry are meant to be JOKES. if you can't tell the difference, go back to school and ask your teacher to help you]

recently animal abuse cases have been highlighted in the media. and one silly cat-abuser is still on the run, killing innocent kitties by slitting their throats! he/she needs to slitted too! i suggest maybe doing it on the face. we can slit his face in writing :) like "I KILLED CATS". if no space, just write "KILLER".

i don't understand what is wrong with abusers. what goes on in their minds? what about abusing is so fun? is it the fact that the poor animal is unable to retaliate?

the abusive acts range from the senseless (throwing rocks at animal) to the violent (beating up the animal) and to the murderous (killing the animal).

lil0 the d0g

This is Lilo. according to her bio stats from ASD, she was rescued from a man who was trying to hit her with a stick.

look at her small size. her cute face. the oh-so-melting-eyes. would you want to HIT her? or even think mean thoughts about her?

when i saw her picture, i thought that perhaps she was abandoned as a small puppy or something. i wouldn't know for sure, but the very fact that some silly man was attempting to hit her with a stick pissed me off instantly.

dogs are naturally loyal , caring and playful. it takes quite alot for a dog to get pissed off and when a dog is aggressive, chances are it has been abused in the past thereby ruining its trust in mankind.

maybe we should also hit the man with a stick to let him have a taste of the medicine he doled out. tie him up for good measure too. and ignore his cries for help!!! just like how he probably ignored Lilo's whining! :D he'd feel so good after that. nothing better than eating what you served.

other good punishments for animal abusers should include tying them up and leaving them alone for a few weeks, hitting them, pelting them with objects, poking them and laughing when they squirm, pouring hot water on them, breaking random bones in their body…

the list could go on for ages.(and for the uninformed, the above mentioned 'punishments' are just some of the abusive acts that have been done to animals)

we as humans are so obviously more powerful than animals. bullying the weak is a clear sign of insecurity. there is so much that abusers can do, but choose not to do it and inflict pain to vent frustrations.

if you find yourself harbouring negative thoughts, especially crazy thoughts like wanting to harm something, go get some help. before somebody else has to pay the price for your neglect.

on the way to ECP

not been sleeping well these few days. and today i happily went to east coast park at 8.30am(woke up at 7am) to 'exercise'! haha. i walked all the way to macdonalds with my friend.

shadows.

and that's definitely considered as some exercise. saw a bicycle in the drain and laughed.

bike in drain

ah well. another strange thing happened today. i accidentally made eye contact with this fella(trust me its not on purpose cos usually i stare blankly ahead during the mornings. i ain't a morning person) who seemed to be looking towards my direction and his expression was one of recognition which of course puzzled me cos i didn't recognise him.

dang, i hate it whenever this kinda things happen. and yes, i am slow. so i may or may not have known that fella. but one word of advice to people who might want to attempt the same feat in the future - DON'T :) just maybe say my name a tad louder so i can actually respond(and if i dont at least you didn't shout eh ;) or if you forget my name, say 'Talented Person Who Is Really Fantastic'(its a 'joke' i use to torment my friends all the time).

wrote a long article on Singapore Idol 2 after i learnt that Mathilda the Powerhouse actually got booted out instead of Joakim Gomez. and yes, i don't watch SI2 anymore. its kinda painful for me, the nationalist, to actually witness something that has the potential to embarass my beloved country on an international scale.

removing my braces on september 9! congratulate me!

i love…

[ps : my multiply page has been updated. link on right hand side]

latest edition to my shoe family

ahhh. what beauty. my bronze charles and keith heels :)

i love shoes. so much so that at one point of time i think i owned about 13 pairs and that's saying alot for someone who survives on a hand-to-mouth budget. the day i step into the working world officially is the day that shoe shops will probably start rejoicing.

whenever i talk about shoes my choice words would be 'staff discount'(if i happen to know someone working in a particular shoe shop), 'discount/privilege card', 'xx % off' and 'niiiiice'.

unfortunately my feet aren't designed for most asian styled shoes cos they're kinda broad =\

but that hasn't deterred me from my love. heh.

argh my hearing!~

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

seriously. my hearing has been affected these couple of days. i blame no one but myself actually. lol. not that i didn't enjoy myself :)

yesterday i went to go see the fireworks. i don't know which team was responsible for the dazzling displays but it was lovely.

the new paper kinda scared me by writing an article on how bad the crowd control was. but from where i was standing it was okay.

the crowd at esplanade

yup here's a picture of the crowd. a couple was standing beside me and the girl was literally plastered against me -_-" sometimes i suspect why i always kena these kinda things is because the girl figures better me than some dirty old man. haha.

firewookies!

see the number of people propping their hp cams and digicams up. lol. i didnt take any good pictures cos the fireworks were at a rapid speed but i do have a couple of vids that i will be posting on * my multiply page

today i went for the planetshaker's concert(which was brought in by fcbc). again i felt like an old person so next time i think i'll just stick to p&w concerts by hillsong and don moen.

PSworship team

the worship was a rockin'. i literally could feel the vibrations coming in from the loud thumping music. it was fantastic though. worship is worship, no matter who you're with. its all about Who you're worshipping.

sermon

this pic's of the pastor from their church preaching. he was sooooper enthu and the sermon was primarily an evangelistic one so it was nice listening :)

feel quite beat now lol. okay more (boring) blogging next time.

million dollar view

the view from my church's rooftop terrace

isn't the view from my church's rooftop terrace nice? okay fine at least the top 2 pictures. i wasn't very concerned about taking super nice pics. just being up there and feeling the breeze was sweet!

my pastors love calling the rooftop terrace's view "the million dollar view"(partly because the new church building cost a pretty penny to build). anyways, they always encourage us(actually us = those who brought newcomers) to go up and drink kopi, soak in the view and stuff.

sermon was good as usual. but today i think i'll skip on typing out the entire sermon. but generally it gave me a good feeling cos Elder Boey reminded us about how the 'troubles'(john 14:30,16:1-4,20-22) in our lives are things that we should face bravely cos nothing is too tough if we remain in God who has already given us His peace(john 14:27,16:33).

You're all I want

You're all I ever needed

NDPreview 2006

it was fan-tast-tic! the atmosphere was just as good in comparison to the real day's(i've been to one on the real day before a couple of years back). ahh…the patriotic nationalistic feelings were at an all time high. yeah. had alot of vids but they're rather shaky and mostly of the fireworks.

LOVE National Day Parades

but i LOVE Singapore more =D

sermon notes+sunday sch musings

[am typing out the sermon notes. words in brackets are extra stuff]

Drawing Back to God (Part 1/4) : Rediscovering Our First Love

Speaker : Elder Freddy Boey

Scripture : Revelation 2:4, Philippians 2:12

1. Life after salvation : Salvation is a process, not an insurance policy.

- Apostasy : people who are never saved. Jude 3:11,Hebrews 6:4

- Don't be merely saved. 2 Corinthians 5:6-10, 1 Corinthians 3:13-15

(extra : there once was a man who was the 'QC' of the church. he criticised everything and pointed out what was not there in the sermon, worship…etc. so one day when he died and got to heaven, he got taken on a little tour in heaven. he saw his pastor's house. it was a giant mansion. "wow, if his house looks like that, mine must be 3 times it's size!". the 2nd house was his worship leader's house. it was just as big as his pastor's if not bigger. "if her house is like that, mine certainly must be occupying a football field!" the angel led him to his house. to his horror, he saw a barren plot of land with mortar and bricks lying on the ground. "what happened? why is my house not built?" the angel replied "you were so busy building other people's houses, you forgot to build your own!")

- Those who looked back. Luke 17:31-32, Luke 9:62

2. Salvation through His death, Service through His Love

- We love because He first loved. If we do not respond to His love, we wil not love. 1 John 4:19

- Loving God means loving and serving His people. 1 John 4:11,12,20

- Serving without His love is not serving at all. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

- And God's Love is what compels us in our ervice. 2 Corinthians 5:14

3. Beyond salvation, there is accountability. 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 2:5,3:15-17

sunday school artwork

this is a sample of the hands-on material i prepared. and yes, in case you haven't figured out by my previous postings, i am NOT artistically inclined. thankfully my sunday school kids are only 3-4 years old. what do they know about fine art huh? lol.

today 2 girls particularly made my day better. 1 of them, A, is usually quite the stubborn lil tyke. she refuses to sit with the kids on the floor during storytime. however today she was very docile and opted to sit on my lap thru out the entire storytelling and worship. she even surprised me by reciting the memory verse from last week and kids her age don't usually do that!

B is a very cheerful girl(same girl mentioned in my jul2 entry). so today, i took a few pics with her(will nevar post them publicly, so forget about it). was taken aback(in a good way) when in the first shot she reached over to hug me. awwww. when i went outside for a little while, she even tried to follow me(my colleague alerted me by tapping on the glass partition of the door and pointing to the girl from inside the room). when i opened the door, she reached out for me(like the way kids reach out when they want to be carried) and so i picked her up. man. seeing her beam made me day sooooo good. its lovely how kids just love simply, with no strings attached.

its no wonder why God exults us to love like a child, cos their love is the purest of all :)
